M. Ahmad Hameed, M.D.

Dr. Hameed is the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute (PPI) interim Medical Director.

He graduated from Allama Iqbal Medical College. Dr. Hameed completed his residency at SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse, New York. He serves on Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute’s Medical Executive Committee as President. Dr. Hameed is board certified in psychiatry.

Ailyn Diaz, M.D.

In 2000, Dr. Diaz graduated from Penn State Hershey College of Medicine. In 2001, she completed her internship in Family Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon, PA. She then went on to complete her Residency in Psychiatry at Penn State Milton Hershey Medical Center in 2003, as well as complete a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in 2005.

Dana Schirk, M.D.

Dana Schirk, MD joined us on August 1, 2021. She will provide adult inpatient services at PPI.

Dr Schirk comes to us from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where she was Chief Resident. She attended medical school at Penn State College of Medicine, and holds a BS in Biology with minors in Spanish and Anthropology from Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA.

Elizabeth Smith, CRNP

Elizabeth Smith, CRNP, joined PPI Medical Services on October 24, 2019.

Ms. Smith brings her background in psychology and nursing together to her role as medical CRNP at PPI. She completed a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and worked in a residential treatment facility and an inpatient psychiatric facility before returning to school for nursing. She received an A.D.N. from HACC, a B.S.N. from Penn State University, and a M.S.N. from Millersville University as a FNP. She has worked at Holy Spirit Hospital as a telemetry and ICU float nurse and at PSHMC in the HVICCU.

Arianna Waid PMHNP-BC

Arianna Waid PMHNP-BC joined PPI in October 2020 working in the Child Outpatient 3rd Street Clinic. Ms. Waid comes to us from Allegheny Heath Network’s St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, PA. where she worked as a Psychiatric RN. She earned her Masters of Science in Nursing, her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and her Certificate in Forensic Mental Health from Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Jatinder Singh, M.D.

Dr. Singh was our Chief Resident for the year 2017-18 and the State Resident Representative for PPI (2016-18), He recently finished his research addiction fellowship at Yale University. Prior to coming to us as a resident, Dr. Singh completed his Psychiatry training at the Manchester Deanery NHS, UK. Dr. Singh joined us an Assistant Professor on September 1, 2019. He joins our inpatient team at PPI. He will also work with the outpatient addiction services team at PPI.

Michael Faschan, M.D.

Dr. Faschan comes to us from the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, where he did his general psychiatry residency training. Dr Faschan obtained his medical degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School, Norfolk, VA. He is part of our adult outpatient team at PPI.

Yassir Mahgoub, M.D.

Dr. Mahgoub comes to us from the Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY. He previously completed his residency with us from 2012-2016. Prior to that he obtained his M.B.B.S from the University of Khartoum, Sudan, and did a psychiatry residency at Taha Basahar psychiatric teaching hospital, Khartoum, Sudan. He is apart of the adult inpatient team at PPI on 6 Memorial.
