Dr. Andrew Francis achieved his Ph.D. at SUNY Stony Brook. His postdoctoral research was done at Cornell University Medical College. He received his medical degree from SUNY Buffalo. His psychiatry residency was at John Hopkins Hospital.
He is board certified in Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Salman Majeed, M.D., will be working on the PPI Child Inpatient Unit. Dr. Majeed completed his medical education at Nishtar Medical College,
University of Health Sciences in Multan, Pakistan. He completed his General Psychiatry Residency at Drexel University College of Medicine,
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Training at Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia, and his Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Brown
University, Department of Psychiatry, Providence, Rhode Island.
Dr. Sam Al-Saadi graduated from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada in 2005. In 2012, Dr. Al-Saadi completed his residency in Psychiatry at Cooper Hospital/University Medical Center in New Jersey. Following his residency, in 2013 he completed his fellowship in Sleep Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia Pennsylvania.
In 2000, Dr. Diaz graduated from Penn State Hershey College of Medicine. In 2001, she completed her internship in Family Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon, PA. She then went on to complete her Residency in Psychiatry at Penn State Milton Hershey Medical Center in 2003, as well as complete a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in 2005.

Sarah Sharfstein Kawasaki, MD, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Director of Addiction Services at PPI. Dr. Kawasaki received her MD at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed her internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, followed by a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Center for Behavioral Addiction Medicine, Department of Family Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. Most recently she served as Director of Internal Medicine at Healthcare for the Homeless in Baltimore, MD, where she treated the mentally ill and substance using homeless population in Baltimore. She is an advocate for smoking cessation and suboxone treatment, for which she is a certified provider. She has interests in investigating health outcomes in model of treatment, where interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatry, outpatient addiction treatment and case management, work in tandem.
In May of 1998 Janet received her BS in Nursing while attending Coppin State in Baltimore, MD. She continued to further her education receiving her Masters in Nursing at the School of Nursing also in Baltimore, MD
Dr. Lagman comes to us from the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Piscataway, NJ, where she did her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship. Prior to that she did her Psychiatry residency at Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA and her Pediatrics residency at the West Visayas State University Medical Center, Iloilo City, Philippines where she also received her MD degree.
Dr. Mormando comes to us from the State University of New York. Stony Brook, NY, where he was a chief resident in Psychiatry. Prior to this, Dr. Mormando was a Visiting Psychiatric Research Scholar at NSLIJHS/Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine, NY. Dr. Mormando received his medical degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine-NYIT, Old Westbury, NY. He is a part of our adult inpatient at 4 Memorial and will be doing ECT.
Dr. Pathak comes to us from the Akron Children’s Hospital, Akron, OH, where she was a child fellow in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Prior to this, Dr. Pathak did her psychiatry residency at Harlem Hospital Center, Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York, NY and was a Clinical Research Coordinator at Children’s National Medical Center, District of Columbia. Dr. Pathak received her medical degree from Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences, Bilaspur, India. She is a part of both our child outpatient and partial hospitalization programs.
